Carbon tariffs are coming

If US Doesn’t Price Carbon, Could Nations Boycott American Products?:

British economist and lead climate negotiator Lord Nicholas Stern (of the famous Stern report) issued something of a warning to the United States last week. He effectively argued that if the US fails to address climate change by enacting a pricing scheme to reign in carbon emissions, we could face an international trade boycott on American-made goods.

Well, duh.

As I’ve pointed out numerous times on this site and elsewhere, we are on a collision course with trade wars triggered by carbon tariffs. Whether those tariffs are imposed on the US or China or India remains to be seen, but unless those countries (and possibly others) undergo a significant change of culture, you can bet it will happen.
