Gratuitous lacrosse photos–lots of them by at 11:29 AM on April 23, 2008.

For those who simply cannot help but wonder what I do in those spare moments when I’m not chained to the keyboard, here are three photo galleries of my Rochester Greywolves lacrosse photos.

The best shots, in my opinion, are in the 4/20/2008 collection from the scrimmage against Onondaga, which is the first of the three galleries in the set. But what do I know–photography is like writing in that the creator is the last person who can judge it accurately.

Nice pictures. What kind of camera do you have - it looks like a dSLR to me if I’d have to guess. I bought a Canon S5 IS last summer which I really have enjoyed but I have some dSLR envy for sure…

    Nice Scion.

I forgot the Scion photo was in there–that’s not mine. It belongs to the owner of the team. But those are my photos used in the vinyl posters on the car.

My camera is a Nikon D80 with a bag full of lenses that I shudder to contemplate ever having to replace. When I’m on the lacrosse floor during warmups or on the bench during a game, I try to remain very aware of where every ball is, out of concern for both the gear and my head. Lacrosse balls are incredibly dense and hard, and the really good players can fire them at over 100MPH. I’ve been winged twice so far, but they were (relatively) low-speed passes. My wife still wants me to wear a lacrosse helmet, though.

This is a little off topic, but this whole thread is a bit off topic, so have you tried doing any HDR stuff with that fancy camera of yours? It’s pretty cool.

We can go off-topic–I know the site owner.

I haven’t tried HDR yet, but I really want to. I’ve been doing Serious Photography, including a ton of B&W darkroom work, since 1977(!), and I can’t begin to tell you how many hours I’ve spent trying to work around exactly the kind of problems that HDR solves. So many cool toys, so little time…
